Dental Crowns vs Dental Bonding

Posted on: May 16, 2018

Over the years teeth age with the body, this is a fact of life.  Our teeth are worn out over time. Perhaps your teeth have been damaged due to outside factors out of your control?

Dental crowns and dental bonding are completely different from one another, although the main purpose is to aide the tooth to appear and act as the original tooth.

Bonding

If you damaged your tooth and you are looking for a quick fix then you might look into getting dental bonding, which is a simple non-invasive procedure.

If you need to fill a chipped tooth or a crack, then it is wise that you opt to get direct composite bonding, of course, this route is meant for minor tooth issues and cosmetic problems.

When you seek to get dental bonding, there is another method you can choose—adhesive bonding, this method works to fix bridges, crowns, inlays, or veneers that are already placed on your teeth. Adhesive bonding is used to restore damage to material that has already been placed on your tooth.

Though your dental bonding will look normal like your real teeth, you will need to avoid chewing gum, hard candy, ice, and refrain from biting your fingernails.

Dental Bonding

  • Dental bonding is less costly opposed to dental crowns

  • There are two types of methods you can use: direct composite bonding and adhesive bonding

  • This is a painless procedure

  • Non-invasive

Dental Crowns

  • Pricier, the typical price starts at $600.00 and up (this is with insurance coverage)

  • Dental crowns help your tooth become stronger

  • Crowns are used to attach your bridges

  • A crown can hide a bad shaped tooth and discolored teeth

  • A dental crown can also be used to cover up a dental implant—helping your teeth appear bright and beautiful

The Price Differs Exponentially

The pricing varies dramatically when it comes to dental crowns and dental bonding.

When it comes to dental crowns and dental bonding, you need to make sure that you get a complete evaluation from a qualified cosmetic dentist that can help you attain a better-looking smile.

If you have minor issues with your teeth and want to improve the aesthetic quality of them, then it may be in your best interest to get dental bonding as it will be cheaper and less invasive.

If you have major issues that concern the look of your teeth or tooth than dental crowns should be your first choice. Of course, you will always need a full-on evaluation by a cosmetic dentist to help you make this decision.

When people first notice you, they look at your appearance, you should no longer hold onto your insecurity solely because your teeth aren’t as beautiful as they should be.  Investing in your teeth takes time and money, but the amount spent is worth every penny once you are able to shine brightly with your new smile.

Dental crowns and bonding help improve your overall appearance. Why wouldn’t you get a consultation?
