Thinking that because your child’s baby teeth are growing in a bit crooked that they may experience some dental difficulties with their permanent teeth? While an indicator for future dental problems can include crooked teeth in children, just because a child has crooked teeth does not necessarily mean that they will be in need of teeth straightening services in the future. What is important for you to keep in mind that many children who have their baby teeth coming in will experience some crookedness. This fact makes it a good idea for you to keep a close eye on the teeth as they continue to grow in.

When baby teeth grow in crooked

When baby teeth grow in crooked it really is important for parents to keep a close eye on the teeth. While many times a little bit of crookedness will not make a difference, other times a child’s crooked baby teeth can be a sign of serious dental problems coming. Watch them closely to make sure that the child is not experiencing any difficulties when it comes to talking, eating and drinking. Another thing to look for besides crooked teeth and their side effects is whether or not the teeth are causing the child to have a crowded mouth. When a child experiences a crowded mouth as their baby teeth grow in, there is a possibility that their jaw is not big enough to support all of their permanent teeth.

What parents need to do

One of the most important things a parent needs to do when their child’s baby teeth are growing in crooked is to watch the teeth closely and take notes to share with a dentist. If the crooked teeth seem to be directly related to a certain behavior vs. a natural occurrence, then parents are encouraged to do what they can to stop the behavior from happening. For example, when a child sucks their thumb often or performs tongue thrusting on a continual basis, it is necessary for the parents to find ways to correct these personal behaviors.
